Stage 1 Kidney Cancer Treatment

If you are older or have significant medical problems it may be safer to first carefully watch the cancer with multiple scans and multiple visits to the cancer specialist.

The five year survival rate for stage 1 kidney cancer is. It can be used by itself after at least one other treatment has been tried or it can be used with certain immunotherapy drugs like pembrolizumab or avelumab as the first treatment for people with advanced kidney cancer. This type of surgery involves removing only the tumor and a small part of the surrounding tissue. In fact many older patients don t need to be treated at all.
