Do We Enjoy Sickness
Getting sick is rarely if ever fun for anyone but we all get sick.
Do we enjoy sickness. It has been considered a condition since the medieval ages and symptoms that have remained consistent across time include a loss of appetite and insomnia. We think that a good and loving god would not allow sickness and yet we know that sickness exists. It is undeniable though that god sometimes intentionally allows or even causes sickness to accomplish his sovereign purposes. But in this world our bodies endure sickness pain decay.
While that may sometimes be the case sickness is often just a result of living in a fallen world. So why does god allow this. It is only a sickness when you derive pleasure from it and will consistently do it even when you know it is wrong. We can choose to be miserable or we can choose to learn about ourselves and grow from the experience.
He created the human body and he is pleased when we enjoy health and vigor. What you need to do jesus christ pointedly explained what we must do in order to enjoy a future world without sickness. Make no mistake god is grieved when those he loves are suffering. While sickness is not directly addressed in the passage hebrews 12 5 11 describes god disciplining us to produce a harvest of righteousness verse 11.
You can cheat on your taxes but you can t cheat on sickness. Sickness can be a means of god s loving discipline. Lovesickness refers to an affliction that can produce negative feelings when deeply in love during the absence of a loved one or when love is unrequited. We are just human doing human things and hopefully learning from our mistakes.
He often shows his love and compassion for us through others who minister to us and care for us during times of sickness 2 corinthians 1 3 5. When we get sick we all have a choice of how to work with illness. We can begin to believe that sickness is the result of a person s sin. And no matter what happens we can trust that god is good because that is his nature.
Learning to not hurt those you love will be a lesson well learnt. This means everlasting life their taking in knowledge of you the only true god and of the one whom you sent forth jesus christ. In sickness and in health in times of hurt and healing we have to remember to trust god.
